Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery
What is it?
This involves surgery on the large intestine and rectum.
Who needs this surgery?
Patients with diseases affecting the colon, such as:
- Cancer of the colon or rectum
- Diverticular Disease
- Strictures/ Narrowing
- Obstruction
How is it performed?
It can be performed with 4-5 small cuts on the abdomen, either laparoscopically or robotically. In some cases, 1 large cut may have to be made on the abdomen.
